Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Privacy Statement

At Journal of Earth and Planetary Sciences (JEPS), we are fully committed to protecting the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, and readers. This Privacy Statement describes how personal information is collected, used, and safeguarded in accordance with international data protection standards and ethical publishing practices.

  • Names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses of authors, reviewers, and editors.
  • Submission and peer-review metadata necessary for editorial and publishing processes.
  • Technical data such as essential cookies and server logs for system security and performance.

No sensitive personal data is collected beyond what is required for scholarly publishing.

2. Use of Information

  • Editorial management of manuscripts and peer review.
  • Publishing author details in articles and metadata for indexing services.
  • Maintaining website functionality and improving services.

We do not sell, rent, or misuse personal data for commercial purposes.

3. Disclosure and Transparency

Author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, and emails may be included in published articles and related metadata to ensure transparency and attribution. Information may also be shared with indexing and archiving services under secure agreements.

4. Cookies

Essential cookies are used for proper site operation (login, submission, security). Optional analytics and marketing cookies may be used to enhance user experience. Users can manage non-essential cookies through their browser settings.

5. Data Retention

Personal data is retained only as long as necessary for publishing purposes. Published content and metadata may be stored indefinitely to preserve the academic record.

6. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. Access is restricted to authorized editorial staff only.

7. User Rights

Users may request access to, correction, or deletion of their personal information, and may withdraw consent for non-essential processing, in compliance with applicable laws.
